The opportunity
Join a high-growth engineering team developing advanced automated test systems for electronic products in defence and aerospace manufacturing. This senior role focuses on designing, building, and supporting automated test equipment for production environments. Work with cutting-edge technologies supporting control actuation, guidance electronics, and GPS anti-jamming systems in land, sea, air, and space domains. Must be UK Security Check (SC) clearance eligible and located or willing to relocate to Glenrothes, Scotland.
What you could work on
- Design, develop, verify, and validate automated test equipment at card, sub-system, and system levels
- Own end-to-end test development lifecycle including production transfer and ongoing support
- Architect and develop structured automated test software for electronic systems
- Design and integrate test hardware interfaces such as fixtures, harnesses, and instrumentation
- Debug complex electronic and mixed-signal systems in laboratory environments
- Lead fault finding, root cause analysis, and failure investigations, providing feedback to design teams
- Support manufacturing through issue resolution, yield improvement, and obsolescence management
- Collaborate across hardware, software, and systems engineering teams and participate in customer engagements
Relevant experience
- Strong background in automated electronic test system development
- Excellent analogue and digital electronic circuit design knowledge
- Experience designing and deploying electronic test equipment in manufacturing environments
- Developing structured test software for automated or semi-automated systems
- Hardware troubleshooting and board-level fault-finding skills
- Experience transferring test solutions into production and supporting manufacturing
- Ability to work fully on-site in a secure engineering environment
- Eligibility for UK Security Check (SC) clearance, including British citizenship and UK residency
